Art Nouveau Door Panel (Restoration)

This project involved the careful restoration of an original Art Nouveau style stained glass door panel, focusing on structural repair and visual preservation rather than redesign. Damaged and failing sections were stabilized, broken glass was replaced with closely matched materials, and weakened lead came was reinforced to restore the panel’s integrity. The goal throughout the process was to honor the original proportions, geometry, and intent of the piece.

Subtle green accents and linear detailing were preserved to maintain the panel’s period character, while cleaned and resecured glass allows light to pass through evenly once again. This restoration highlights a respect for historical craftsmanship and an understanding of how stained glass ages over time. The finished panel retains its original voice, now strengthened for continued use without sacrificing authenticity.
