Cattails Stained Glass Window

A stained glass window inspired by reeds and cattails, with long, flowing blades of green glass moving upward through the composition. Warm amber and brown tones form the cattail heads, set against softly textured clear glass that lets light pass through while gently obscuring the view beyond.

The piece was built as a series of panels, allowing the design to flow continuously across the window while respecting the structure of the frame. Progress photos trace the work from early pattern studies through cutting, leading, soldering, and final assembly. Seen together, they show how the lines were shaped by hand and adjusted along the way, letting the movement of the glass guide the final form rather than forcing it into a rigid plan.
